Interactive Wellness Technology System

Port Huron, MI – The Blue Water YMCA has gone hi-tech with its newest weapon in the battle for a healthier community.  The YMCA announced the installation of MobileFit, an interactive wellness technology system. The Blue Water YMCA is the first Y in Michigan to offer this system.

MobileFit is a web-based exercise system that combines user feedback with recommendations from a trainer to create customized workout plans.  The system prescribes a plan based on the user’s goals, the type of equipment or classes offered at the YMCA, and trainer input.

“As many people know, the mission of the YMCA is to help build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all,” said Blue Water YMCA Health and Wellness Director Traci Hofmann.  “We’re in the business to make your life better – to make our communities better.  MobileFit is helping us do that by engaging our members in an exercise program that leads to a healthier lifestyle.”

MobileFit workouts adapt and change as the user provides feedback on workouts completed.  Users can log their progress at the YMCA or online at the MobileFit website – they can even customize their workouts.  YMCA members do not have to pay extra for MobileFit; enrollment is included in all memberships and can be used in conjunction with all equipment and classes offered at the YMCA.

MobileFit is being brought to the YMCA through a partnership with Physician HealthCare Network. According to Executive Director Doug Dolph, “Physician HealthCare Network is proud to partner with the YMCA in this endeavor.  Our Patient Centered Medical Home initiative is based on having patients set goals to achieve a healthier lifestyle.  MobileFit is an excellent step in that direction.”
